America Lost

One of the things I’m looking forward to on the trip is seeing old train stations. Most were built at the height of The Industrial Age and represent an era now long gone. As I start I have only seen Penn Station, NewarK Penn Station and Philadelphia’s station.

Most know the story behind the destruction of Penn Station. A beautiful structure was leveled, making way for a concrete slab to form the foundation of today’s Madison Square Garden. What New Yorkers were left with was an impossibly non-functional station which is now among the world’s busiest.

Both Newark Penn and Philly are beautiful with the latter holding a pretty big edge.
